Education is not the piling on of learning, information, data, facts, skills, or abilities—that’s training or instruction—but is rather making visible what is hidden as a seed. —Thomas Moore

Carmen Bartley is a PhD student in the Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis program, with a specialization in Educational Policy. Prior to coming to the University of Wisconsin, she taught high school English and Leadership for five years. She completed her BA in English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her Masters in Education from Wake Forest University.  Her research interests are the equity, success, and sustainability of cohort programs for at-risk students. She would like to explore the contexts in which both teachers and students can be successful in these types of programs.
