Each spring semester, ELPA's student group L.E.A.D.S. asks our student body to nominate faculty members for the Department's annual "Teacher of the Year" and "Mentor of the Year" awards. This is always an exciting time because it provides an opportunity for students to reflect on one of the greatest strengths of our academic community, the exemplary, prestigious, dedicated, engaged--and engaging--faculty who we are fortunate to have in the department. – Geoffrey Mamerow, ELPA doctoral student

ELPA also presented its annual "Dissertation of the Year" awards to a K12 Leadership/Policy student and a Higher, Postsecondary and Continuing Education student. Over the course of the year, faculty rank dissertations. The student with the highest ranking earns the award. This year, the K12 Leadership award was presented to Melanie Oppor (below, left) and the Higher, Postsecondary and Continuing Education award to Bridget McCurtis (below, right). Melanie's major advisor was Paul Bredeson and Bridget's was Jerlando Jackson.
