Changhee Lee, ELPA PhD student and WCER researcher Ross J. Benbow, as part of a research group that includes ELPA affiliate Matthew T. Hora  just published a paper titled

"Teaching-focused social networks among college faculty: exploring conditions for the development of social capital" in the Higher Education.

Yi-Hwa Liou, faculty member at National Taipei University of EducationDepartment of Educational Management recently received a prestigious early career award; the Taiwan counterpart to the National Science Foundation.   Dr. Liou, the only social scientist to receive the award, earned both her Master's and PhD in ELPA.
Pedro Reyes, Professor of Education Leadership & Policy at The University of Texas at Austin, ELPA PhD 1985, and former assistant professor in ELPA will be honored at UCEA with the Campbell Lifetime Achievement award.  He has been an acclaimed leader in the UT system. 
Shelby Cosner, ELPA PhD 2005 was recently promoted to Professor from Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In addition, Dr. Cosner has just accepted the position of Director of UIC's Center for Urban Education Leadership. 
Daniel Corral, ELPA Ph.D. student accepted NYU's Faculty First Look Program
Paris Wicker, ELPA Ph.D. student is a Ph.D. fellow at UW–Madison in a new program for doctoral students across three departments: sociology, education policy studies, and educational leadership and policy analysis.
Mauriell Amechi, Ph.D. alum, accepted a two-year visiting assistant professorship at the University of Redlands. In addition, he has been selected to serve as a co-program chair for the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) 2019 conference, which will take place in Portland, OR.

UW-Madison scholars gain global perspectives at summer institute hosted by Beijing Normal
Four scholars with ties to the School of Education traveled to China earlier this summer to take part in the 2018 International Network of Education Institutes’ (INEI) Summer Program, which was hosted by Beijing Normal University. The institute is an effort to build a cross-cultural platform for meaningful intellectual dialogue. Those from UW-Madison taking part in the program included: Hanna Lichtenstein and Kristen McNeill, who are master’s degree students with the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis’ Global Higher Education program; alumna Carolyn Schroeder; and Adam Nelson, a Professor with the Department of Educational Policy Studies.
